Cade Martin, Bringing his Sense of Abstract Wonder to the Bayou

On one of Cade’s last projects in New Orleans, he was grabbing a beer one night with location scout, Aaron Dunsay.  While they talked, he learned that if he were to drive a half hour and then take a boat for another half hour, he would come across these fishing shacks you can only get to by boat.

It’s exactly the kind of thing – utterly distinctive  – that he can’t resist. He was all in.

So he stayed an extra day in Louisiana and hired a waterman, from a long line of watermen, with a boat to take him out.  Ultimately capturing a somewhat surreal water world and turning it into something unique, imbued with a sense of magic of the bayou to create this image that would make you wonder “am I seeing what I think I’m seeing?”  – are you seeing what you think you’re seeing?
